Summer break is right around the corner, but not before we makeup Round 3 this weekend at Pleasant Valley Farms. That’s right, Round 3. For those new to the series, this race was scheduled in April, but the property got too much rain and the parking area was not drive-able, so it forced us to postpone the race.
Pleasant Valley Farms is a new location for this season, so special thanks to the land owner, Randy Owens, for letting us build a track and race on their land. We would like to thank Central Plains Cement Company for sponsoring this round and purchasing over 150+ awards. The address to the track is as follows: 22350 W 71st St S, Sand Springs, OK 74063
It looks like we should expect another hot weekend, and with this being back to back weekends, be sure to stay hydrated all week. To my knowledge, we didn’t have any heat-related injuries at Round 7 in Skiatook, so good job staying hydrated and keeping cool.
Big Black’s BBQ will be our food vendor this round, so be sure to show them some support and get some of their good food. E.J. Images will be hosting a String race on Saturday evening at 6:30pm. Thanks to Emily J. Cohlmia for doing these special events. You can register at the scoring trailer, or at the event. It’ll begin at 6:30pm on Saturday evening near the scoring trailer.
For those that remember, Cole Williams did a track preview video in April. Since then, the track had become overgrown, and a lot of it was not recognizable. therefore, David Brown has had to cut in a new track. So it may not be exactly the same as the original preview video, but expect it to be similar.
Also, I made a post earlier today regarding hotel information for this round. For those who missed it and need lodging, the Comfort Inn 1-44 West 66 will be the host motel. Their number is 1-918-728-6100. Tell them you’re here for the OCCRA race at Pleasant Valley to get the special rate. Thanks to Russell Doughty for getting this arranged.
Thank you to all the members and racers for a great 1st half of the season, for the continued support of this race series, and thanks to all the sponsors, vendors, volunteers, officers, and most importantly, you, the racers!!! Without you all, we would not have this opportunity year after year.
See you all in a few days.
