For Round 11 we head to a new location on the OCCRA circuit – Discoveryland! This property started out as an event center and has a great offering of flat and ample parking and fun, wooded terrain. The main parking area is just inside the gate and will allow nice, neat row parking. Farther into the property is an overflow area that we will try to reserve for generator-free camping.
This site is a campers dream and we’re going to take advantage of that by having a pot luck dinner on Saturday evening after practice at the pavilion. We (OCCRA and Lampton Welding Supply/Schwab Meats) will provide the hamburgers, hot dogs, buns and condiments. Please bring a side or dessert to share with your fellow members.
Now in terms of the track, we have a really fun layout for you. This track will be comparable to Williams Ranch or HoTT as far as terrain. There is slightly less elevation changes and very little off-camber. There are rocks that will make this track technical and it will also be tighter than most tracks in OCCRA but not as tight as the woods at Baldwin Ranch. There are about 3 dry creek crossings and several open areas for passing. For the tree sections that allow passing are there, you’ll have to find the best line…we have multiple options lines set up. There is about a 1-2 minute stretch before and after scoring for excellent spectating. The quad track is about 6 miles but should feel like 7 or 8. Bike track is around 7 with a couple extra loops of single track. The mini track and long course tracks are separate, so practice will be concurrent.
