Who wants an easy 35 points and a shot at a championship?

Working a race can be FUN, easy and often times very rewarding.

When you work a race you not only get 35 points but you also become eligible for overall season awards such as a championship, an embroidered jacket and personalized plaque. To be clear, you can win every race of the year but not be crowned champ or take home overall awards if you choose not to work a race. All OCCRA Officers and Board of Directors are volunteers, the help that you give on your work day greatly improves the overall experience of the weekend.

It is not necessary to put yourself on the schedule, just make sure you are ready for action at the time our race flyers indicate. Your work day needs to be the same day as you normally race. LC Quads for example would work a Saturday and LC Bikes would work a Sunday.

Working a race can be anything from being a flagger to getting on your bike or quad and following racers to make sure everyone is ok which we call a sweeper. If there is a tough section of track you may be asked to assist riders in need for example. Aaron Waldon is our work director you will report to by the scoring trailer and will explain the different positions available the day you work. The scope of work changes race to race.

OCCRA allows you to choose which race to work. Maybe you are still nursing an injury coming into Round 1. Take advantage of work points if you are able to be mobile. Maybe you are not great with certain types of tracks like rocks or sand, take home 35 points instead of riding a track you know you wouldn’t do well on.

If you are not chasing overall season points and awards you don’t have to work even though it can be a lot of fun and rewarding.

You will need to work 1 day for each class you race in.
